If you decide that you want to continue supporting your children, it can be very expensive. However, when you live near you they can get therapy, have group activities, and eat meals in a safe setting. So, it’s a win/win situation for everyone! You get what you need, your children get the therapy they need, and they get to maintain their healthy, clean lifestyle.
Now, there are some drawbacks to living near me. I’m not close enough to them most days. They can’t see or hear me very well most of the time. Sometimes I forget to bring groceries home from the grocery because I was preoccupied with something else. Also, I don’t always want to sit and watch the news with my kids because it tends to bore them.
All in all living near me is wonderful! I’m able to provide a loving environment for my children while still maintaining a strong foundation for sobriety. I’ve learned a lot by getting this perspective and I highly recommend it. I want my family to have as little dependency on me as possible and this has enabled us to build a strong relationship surrounding me and my recovery.
